Attaining and Protecting Your Professional Nursing License
I intend to become licensed in New Hampshire, which is a Nurse Licensure Compact State. A nurse licensure application is completed and submitted online through the NH Board of Nursing website. The state of NH requires that FBI fingerprinting and the criminal record release authorization forms must be filed with the NH Division of State Police before issuing a license. Applicant must send copies of their official transcripts and driver’s license, along with proof of residency.
The Office of Professional Licensure and Certification oversees public safety and efficacy of practicing licensed professions and businesses. Any person can file a complaint who feels or has evidence that a licensee or business is in violation of profession’s rules or demonstrates unethical practices. The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services has a page where you are able to call the Bureau of Elderly & Adult Services to report any instances of abuse. The New Hampshire Nursing License Monitoring Program (NHNLMP) is a program designed to assist and help nursing professionals who struggle with substance and alcohol abuse. This program provides confidential consultation, referrals, recovery monitoring and advocacy. There are different ways that you can get liability insurance to help protect yourself and your license from legal issues.
